Monday, 3rd February 2014 - birthday treat!

Today was such a wonderful day.  Graham hired skis; I'm so proud of him, it's been 13 years since he last skied and he picked it straight back up!  In fact, he's quicker than me on the black runs!  Whats that all about? Lol!

We started the on the cruisier runs, but it wasn't long before we were tazzing about all over the place!  Peak 9 to peak 6 and all in between!  We had a massive day! It's amazing how many runs you can get in when you dont have to wait at the top of a lift to strap on their board! My legs were jelly by the time we hit the hot tubs!

The lift guys were wonderful too, adding to my special day!  Every time the lift pass was scanned they sang or shouted Happy Birthday!  It did make me chuckle! Bless um!

A Sun Dog... Always a great sign!

The view into Breck from the top of Peak 9

We made it over to Peak 6 in hope that we would have a better view from the top, unfortunately, on our way there the clouds stated to roll in. It was still fun tho!

More of the mountain can be skied, but it means trecking to the very top.  Not for the faint hearted, like me!

It is a strange experience, standing in the clouds!

Then it was lunch time! We sat in the sun for 30 mins or so waiting for a table... It's a hard life (and yes, now I'm gloating!)

And after lunch, a favourite black run for Grum Duke, closely followed by Spruce, and Frosy's Freeway (quite a few mogles to be had too!).  It always happens when we say we'll take it easy!  It just can't be helped! LOL!

It's wonderful that Grum picked it up so quickly, it's fantastic to be skiing with him again!  I loved it and I believed Grum did too!  He's keen to get out there again tomorrow!

Thank you for popping by!   Wish you were here too!

Hugs, Mandy xxx

Sunday, 2nd February 2014 - Superbowl Sunday!

Its been such a beautiful bluebird day here in Breckenridge!  We saw the Rockies in all their beautiful glory...  I hope you enjoy our snaps!

Check out the deep blue sky... That's altitude for you!

My skis!

Despite the sun it was -4C and no wind... In the sun it was glorious, in the shade it was freezing!

At the top of the mountain the sky is almost black!

Busy pistes as usual... The crowds here are wild! Lol!

The snow is perfect for my tame snowboarder too!  Grum does look smug!

This is perfectly groomed corduroy!

Our favourite Peak 10 and a view over to Keystone!

Follow me...

We came off the slopes around lunch time to get prepared for the big game!

A quick hot tub and we were sorted!  Grum said I couldn't get a tan in 20 minuets.... Ha!

Now we're settled in front of the TV ready for the action... Now where has Grum put that beer?

Thank you for visiting with us xxx

Love Mandy x

Saturday, 1st February 2014 - BRRR!

Today started early.  We watched the sun rise over a mountain... It wasn't snowing!

Today was going to be a cold one!  -9C but with the windchill it was -17C! BRR! Not a day to be taking your gloves off too often!

But it was delightful to see some sunshine!

The slopes were busy today... Not that you'd notice!

We headded out to play on Peak 7... This is at the top!

The sun was doing its best, but snow was already on its way!

I think we have quite enough snow to play with up here!

Me putting the gloves back on, quickly!

There are warming huts... Just in case! We didn't use it today, we were busy!

Next move took us to the new Peak 6!  Monster!

Oh I say, 12,302ft, 3,750m... I bet there is an amazing view from here on a clear day...!

And back at the bottom of peak 8... Now, that makes your ears ache!

Mmm! Nice pad! Best start saving! X

Friday, 31st Jan 2014 - Oh My Life, Maximus came to play!

Well, what a day!  Breckenridge saw 38" of snow in a period of 48 hours thanks to Storm Maximus!

This is our fifth visit to Breck, and we've never been disappointed in the quality of the snow, but my goodness me, we've never experienced conditions as good as this here before!  Soft, light, champagne powder.

We started early today, keen to take advantage of the conditions and show off our new kit!  You know, we even arrived before the lifts started to run!

Grum was sporting his new jacket (there was no losing him up the mountain today!)

And me... New lid, goggles and trousers (apparently, also easy to spot!)

On our way to peak 10... The steep side!  Up onto the Falcon Superchair!

Top of peak 10, Grum getting his board strapped on!  Every year we promise ourselves that we'll take it easy on our first day, and every year we find ourselves aiming straight for a black run, you know, just to warm up on!

We had an amazing time riding on peak 10.  Feeling the snow brush over your thighs whilst you ski is an exhilarating sensation!  We spent a couple of hours playing on those wonderful black runs... My skiing has never felt better!

Needless to say, this type of play is quite exhausting.  We stopped for a bite to eat and that all important drink of water.  The storm is quite different from the usual weather pattern, the wind has been calm and the snow has fallen straight down, settling right where it landed... On the trees, heaters, posts... Everywhere!

Guess folks didn't fancy sunbathing today!

If you look carefully, you will see that the snow has settled on the top of the tallest trees!

Selfie! Lol! I wanted to see if I had helmet hair!

Arty shot!

Several runs, a hot tub and shower later and we're off to Eric's for dinner!

A pint of well deserved 90 Shilling Ale!

And a very happy Grum!

We had the most wonderful day...

No action shots... Trust me, you wouldn't have taken your gloves off or stopped to take photos!  We were enjoying ourselves far too much for that!  Soz! Xxx
