A Crafty Weekend!

A couple of weeks ago my Great Neice, Claire, came over to stay.  We share a passion for crafting, so I thought it would be a treat to both of us if I was to take her along to the NEC craft show!

What a weekend we had!  Claire is a natural!

She sure knows how to handle papercrafting!

This is Claire's first stamp and colouring project; the result, I think you'll agree, are stunning! Claire met Barbara Gray of Clarity Stamps on the Sunday and very proudly took along this work.  Barbara was delighted with Claire's project!

We made tags using a Tim Holtz 101 techinque... There was no stopping us now!

Claire's next project was using Tracy's, Lavinia Stamps, new Zentangle stamps...  Just look at the shading on the tree!  We got glitter everywhere (and it's still everywhere!).

We had a little more time before bed to get the gelli plate out...

Claire met Tracy, Lavinia Stamps, again on Sunday, and again Claire shared the results of her work.  Tracy really was impressed with Claire's results!

During our weekend we had an amazing time and everyone at the NEC were just amazing.  I'd like to say a special thanks for the interest and encouragement you gave Claire, I know it made the whole experience one to really remember....  Look out Design Teams everywhere.... This girl can craft!

This was my effort!

Claire gave me several gifts that weekend and included in there was a prize very special... She made me some stamps... I'm looking forward to using them in my next journal project!

All that is left for me to say is a really big Thank You to my Great Niece, Claire, for making the weekend so special... It was amazing and I can't wait for our next shared crafting session!

Keep practicing and creating!

Love you, Auntie Mandy xxxx

Journal day...

There is only one thing to do when you get happy post, especially the TH stencil type, open up yhe journal and have a play!  I've used Distress Paints, TH Stencils, Distress Ink and Design by Ryn stamps.

If you don't have a journal, I would encourage you to give it a go!  It's so relaxing!  Go for it!

Lavinia Stamps

I was so pleased to find my new stamps had arrived when I got home from a very stressful day!  Needless to say, I have enjoyed unwinding immensely!

My new journal!

It was a 'big' day for me yesterday putting ink to my new journal. It looked so fresh and clean when I picked it up; I just didn't want to 'spoil' it!  The first page is now inked and I can't wait to learn more and do more!!

I hope I can inspire you to make that 'first' mark in your empty journal... It's so liberating!  Don't forget, it's your journal... You can't go wrong; although you might change your mind! Just remember you can add more, more ink, more paint, add embellishments, butterflies, flowers... You really can't go wrong!  Let your hands and heart show you the way!  And ENJOY!  X

I would love to hear about your first page... X

Clarity Stamp Challenge August 2013

Inspired by all the recent talk regarding the Gelli Plate, I thought I get mine out for a play... I slowly built up the layers, starting with iridescent white and cadmium Red I pushed my butterfly stamp into the wet acrylic and pulled off the first print.  I charged my Gelli with copper acrylic and used it as an ink pad.  I also used gold and bronze acrylic to really give the picture depth.

I found the Stamp very easy to clean in lightly soaped water.

I must say, I enjoyed that (and made several other backgrounds whilst I was there!

Dave & Babs go to the seaside... And didn't they have a wonderful time!

This card was stamped using only Clarity stamps: Shell Cluster, Lighthouse, Seagull, Boat, Curved Street.  I used the Letter Box 'squares' for the nautical flags (that read Clarity Stamps) its been a while since I did my day skipper course... But the wonders of the internet helped jog the old brain cells
On the other hand 'Barbara and Dave', who are sat comfortably on their deck chairs were hand drawn.

Fingers crossed, I might even make it to the seaside at least once this year!
